Oct 21st - Ottawa (CYOW) to Pembroke (CYPT)
I haven't gone on a cross-country since getting my pilot-license. Just taking people up for the usual city-tour :). To avoid from becoming a city-pilot I rented a plane today and headed to Pembroke. It's a 1 hour flight each way (@4500 feet). Here are some pictures:
Scooting along Taxiway Papa in Ottawa (note my eTrex GPS laying on the dashboard) ...
... and the view back:
1st Checkpoint - Quyon is now below us - the Ottawa river makes navigation easy. For a direct route I'm following a specific heading though:
2nd Checkpoint - Shawville about 3 miles to the left:
3rd Checkpoint - Bryson is just passed. In the distance near the river lies Portage du Fort (smoke rising):
4th Checkpint - Beathburg. From here it's only another 10 miles before starting the descent:
Pembroke ahead and the field in sight:
The airfield - after crossing overhead an flying downwind:
Safely landed and parked - the airport building is actually quite nice and has a separate 'Crew'-entrance ...
... that's me, the Pilot :)
On the way back - bye bye CYPT:
Pembroke again :)
Ottawa is to the left - Airport ahead:
The Tower ahead:
We're on the left base for Runway 04 - now I really have to pay attention and stop playing with the camera :)
